thanks for helping cheering, coaching, and most of all friending... and I don't mean on facebook.
we had a great gang of hellyerites hanging out in a rental house and at the track. we laughed hard. that was good. hellyerites 'rocked up' as coach liz would say and represented well in every single event. honestly almost every single podium had a hellyer rider on it. I can think of at least 10 hellyer riders who received some sort of bling... gold, silver, bronze, or brass (what is that metal called they give us of 4rth anyway?). Also a balzilion hellyer riders (25 or so) who competed amazingly well just behind the winners.
'the state of hellyer' is hell-a-fast.
we are raising really talented riders and we are keeping then involved and interested and helping them to get even fasters as the years go by... and we have shit loads of fun. yay!
Thank you, BOD, officials, promoters, bloggers, facebookers, photographers, county park people, tax payers, and of course all the racers.
btw. to you 'masters' two 50year old dudes got 3rd in a crazy fast and stacked Madison. stop doubting and start training!!!

hows' that: capturing all the good stuff that is swirling around in my head. some shadows too. I was slow and grumpy and unlucky last week. not my best race week of not my best year.
yes I did deserve to get DQ'ed from the keirin. I did what they said I did. I have reasons why I did it that make sense to me and most of the people watching... but that doesn't change the fact that it is written in the rule book and I got to be 'THE EXAMPLE' for the dumb ass chief official. even though I was being mugged at the time I did push back a little with the only part of my body that could reach the rider above me who was mugging me (my head. aka 'head but'). In part this was caused because the stupid rookie motor driver that was afraid to properly enter the track and road the first several laps on the apron, creating a very confused situation. I had a 1 lap keirin tournement. They stoped the race, DQ'ed me, and I was not permitted in the rep ride. $45 entry fee. that goes with my $45 entry fee for the standing 250 , and my entry fee for the team sprint, also 1 lap. I paid $120 to do 3 laps of a 250 velodrome. yay!. :|
sprints were about the same. no DQ, but a bad 200m so the way the tournament works the best I could do was race for 5th because my first race was a no-win situation against the number one qualifier. My second chance race was a good one, and I thought I had it won... but the situation changed in the last 100m and I didn't adapt fast enough. So my day was done. I'm not sure but my official results are probably 12th.
250, kilo, team sprint... meh. they were all fine performances i guess. not great. my team sprint team was awesome, I wish I could have given them a better start. Next year!
